While it was great to have a vacation, it's good to be back in the office now! If you are venturing out on vacation, or for some reason have to miss church, remember you can request a recording of any Sunday service(s) you might miss and that way you can keep up with your church family.
Tuesday night there was a Ministry Night meeting that was really informative and motivating, although not each team was represented. Watch for a report of the planned activities in the next Rod and Staff newsletter that will be distributed on July 29th in church.

Pastor Suzanne on vacation - Pastor Suzanne will be on vacation July 16-29. During this time, if you have a church or pastoral emergency, please be sure to contact our Council President, Sue Hattimer at 815-592-6741 or Council Member, Judy Jordan at 815-210-9967. If you have questions about the church calendar, events, etc., please contact me, your Pastoral Assistant, in the church office at 815-886-4354. Pastor Suzanne will not be checking her email or answering phone calls during her vacation. You might "see" her on Facebook, however, as she posts pictures and updates about her trip. Please pray for safe travel for her and her family and for rest and renewal as they spend time together.
Clothing Giveaway – Just a reminder that the Matthew 25 Group is looking for gently used clothing for our August 11 clothing giveaway. We are also looking for people to sort through the donated clothing, launder it, help us set up for the event, etc. Please contact Rose Darguzis for more information and/or the church office and see the sign-up on the Info Table at church.
Creativity Unleashed - Our FREE arts experience will take place at the church Monday, July 16, Wednesday, July 18 and Friday, July 20 from 7-9 p.m. If you are or know a youth in grades 6-12 that you think might be interested in this program, please give them the information. You can also contact Rose Darguzis, Heather Murphy, or Roy Jamason. A special thank you to Heather, Rose and Roy for sharing their artistic talents!
Romeofest - As you heard last Sunday at church, we are gearing up for another year at Romeofest. Our church hosts a booth there and we're looking for volunteers to greet people at our booth, help children with crafts, raise awareness about the Malaria Campaign, and more. Please see Chris Daniels or Carrie Worthington for more information on how you can get involved and serve. All are welcome!
Radical Study - Our study will meet this Sunday, July 15 at the home of Ronn and Tim. Note that we will begin our meeting at 4:30pm, not the usual 4pm. Need directions? Please contact Ronn, Tim, or Renea, our Pastoral Assistant.
Recap of last Sunday: Last week we talked about "Being Sent." We heard from both the Old and New Testament - from Ezekiel, Paul in 2 Corinthians, and Jesus in the Gospel of Mark. We were reminded that God works best in our weaknesses, which isn't always easy for some of us. We were also reminded, as we go forth and share the message of Jesus, that we should speak whether people will listen or not; that we should not be dismayed or discouraged by other's reactions to us; that we should discern whether God is sending us alone, like Ezekiel or with others, like the disciples. Most of all, we should remember that God has sent us and called us to go. The bottom line question is this, "Will we go?"
Preview of this Sunday: Our theme this week will be, "God's Plan and Purpose." We'll be looking at Paul's letter to the Ephesians and thinking about what God's "secret plan" is, how we fit into it, and how we can take this plan to those who need to hear it. We hope you'll join us and invite others to join us too.
ATTENTION ALL MINISTRY TEAMS AND LIAISONS: The Church Council will be meeting on Saturday morning and I need you to submit your team reports by tomorrow (Friday) morning so I can get them copied for the Council. By next Thursday, July 19th, I'll also need your information for the August Rod and Staff newsletter. Thanks!
Wishing you the blessings of peace, hope, joy, health, and love always. Have a great weekend and stay cool!
