WHAT'S HAPPENING AT GOOD SHEPHERD CHURCH

Hello!

Welcome to fall!  Just think, three months from today we will celebrate Christmas.  Speaking of celebrating, Sunday was the fifth anniversary of my being your Pastoral Assistant.  Thank you for all your kindnesses throughout the five years.  We have certainly had a lot take place over that time.

Here's What's Happening around Good Shepherd Church . . .

Fri. Sept 26-Crafter's Night at church begins at 7pm

Sun. Sept 28-Connection Café opens at 8:30am and Worship follows at 9am

Fri. Oct 10-Crafter's Night will begin at 7pm at the church

Sun. Oct 12-Connection Café opens at 8:30am and Worship begins at 9am

Reignite is the new name for our 90 Day Teams.  Come let your light shine and help reignite Good Shepherd Church.  Two meetings are planned for October, on the 2nd and 16th, and you are welcome to join us at any time to help make it happen.  There are many different areas of interest that would welcome additional support.  Attend the meetings and have some fun as well!

Manna order forms for October are available in church and are due to be turned in by Oct.5th.  Manna cards are a safe way to spend without carrying cash or worrying about your credit card being hacked by a security breach.  There are several vendor cards that will suit everyone's needs, and they make excellent gifts as well.  Best of all, you only pay the face value of the card and never have any extra fees added.  Check out the newest form and consider placing an order.  Call the office (815-886-4354) if you have any questions about the program and we'll be glad to help out.  Thanks!

Looking Ahead – Mark your calendars now for a Family Fun Day that's being planned on October 18th.  We'll pass along more details as we get closer to the date.

As always, I am wishing peace, hope, love, faith, grace, and health for everyone.

Evidence Sharing and The Samaritan Center – Beginning at 11:30am this Sunday, the Church Council and Pastor Suzanne, working with representatives from The Samaritan Center, will be providing a process for evidence-sharing from the legal case.  In addition, we will have the opportunity to be in small groups to talk about how this case has affected us personally, how we are feeling, and how we can continue to move forward as a congregation.   We hope you will make every effort to be with us.

Manna order cards are in and forms for October are available in church this Sunday.  These newest forms are due to be turned in by October 5th.  Manna cards are a safe way to spend without carrying cash or worrying about your credit card being hacked by a security breach.  There are several vendor cards that will suit everyone's needs, and they make excellent gifts as well.  Best of all, you only pay the face value of the card and never have any extra fees added..  Check out the newest form and consider placing an order.  Call the office (815-886-4354) if you have any questions about the program and we'll be glad to help out.  Thanks!

Caring Group – We'll be going to the Valley View School District presentation on bullying prevention.  It will be held at Lukancic Middle School on Normantown Road.   The presentation starts at 6:30pm and will be an opportunity for discussion on peer-to-peer violence, as well as training for adults and kids to talk together about the issue of bullying.  If you'd like to join the Caring Group in attending, please meet them at the school.

The Connection Café would appreciate receiving treats to share on Sunday.  It doesn't have to be much—just a little something to go along with the coffee. Please remember the Café is closed while we are having worship to avoid distraction and disturbing others during the worship time.  Please be considerate.

The parking lot seal coating was postponed last Saturday due to rain, so it might get done this Saturday.  Whenever it is done, the lines will have to be redrawn.  Please remember that you can always park on the street if you are more comfortable doing so.

I'm taking tomorrow off so the office will be closed until Monday.  As always, I am wishing peace, hope, love, faith, grace, and health for everyone.

GOOD SHEPHERD SHARING PLANNED FOR SUNDAY

Greetings from Good Shepherd

Wanted to let you know that we will begin sharing some of the evidence from the legal case this Sunday following our service.  In addition, there will be two representatives from the Samaritan Center who will be here to facilitate conversation and help walk us through what may be an emotional experience for many of you. We will not be sharing everything at once as we know this might be overwhelming, but Pastor Suzanne will answer any questions that come up as she is able to answer them.

WHAT'S HAPPENING AT GOOD SHEPHERD CHURCH

Good Afternoon!

Welcome to September.  Weren't we lucky with the weather over Labor Day Weekend?  Thanks to those of you who took the time to attend the Congregational Meeting.  We are planning to set a time to share embezzlement evidence with members and will get an announcement out as soon as a date is finalized.  Also, the five 90 day teams will continue to meet and soon be renamed, since they've gone beyond 90 days twice!  Thanks to all of those who continue to guide and serve Good Shepherd Church during this time of restructuring.  Anyone who would like to join a team or have more information, is welcome to contact a council member or attend a meeting.
