WHAT'S HAPPENING AT GOOD SHEPHERD CHURCH

Good Afternoon!

Wow—here comes August!  It's hard to believe it is back-to-school time already.  It is also time for Pastor to begin serving us on a part time basis.  Following worship on Sunday, we've planned to have an informal meeting for an update/discussion on our legal issue, and other church matters.  Please plan to be there, if possible, for the information sharing and discussion.

Here's the latest information on What's Happening at Good Shepherd Church. . .

Sun. Aug 3-Join us in welcoming back Pastor Suzanne at the Connection Café beginning at 8:30am with Worship at 9:00am, and an informal meeting/discussion following worship

Wed. Aug 6-Bring your own light dinner at 6:30pm which will be followed by Bible Study at 7:00pm

Thursday August 7 to Sunday August 10 is RomeoFest.  Please be sure to see George Sanchez and sign up to volunteer in representing Good Shepherd at the Fest!

Correction--the M&M's Women's Study will not meet in August as they have just completed their study, and plan to begin a new study in September.  That's a great time to come join them!

Remember our "Gifts for Growth" challenge.  Everyone's help is needed in getting our church  much needed financial assistance!

There's only 2 more weeks before our Garage $ale on August 15-16 at church.  Please contact Lori Haack, Judy Jordan, Bob Kirkland, Dawn Myers, or Wendy Ploense for more information.

Roy Jamason wants to hear from anyone interested in participating in a monthly prayer meeting where we would gather to lift up prayers of our church family, as well as prayers for the community, and more.  Prayer is powerful!

One week to RomeoFest!  Please see George Sanchez about volunteering to represent Good Shepherd at their booth.  Added this year is our providing assistance with special needs children on Saturday morning.  There are timeslots in 2 hour intervals on each day, and all help would be welcomed and appreciated.

ADDED-A One hour VBS for children at RomeoFest on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening from 7 to 8pm.  This is something new and special we're offering to the community.  If you can help out, please contact Allen Kirkland or Carrie Worthington soon.

Connection Café comments:  We have gotten away from people providing treats.  Wouldn't you like to treat your fellow worshipers?  How about for special occasions?  Cake, cookies, muffins, breads, that are store bought or homemade, whatever you wish.  Please coordinate this with Lori Haack.  Also, just a reminder that when we are worshiping, the Café is closed.  Please be considerate and give your full attention to our worship time.  God watches over us 24/7.  We can give Him an uninterrupted hour.

Preschool Registration is going on now.  If you know of anyone interested in getting information or enrolling their 3 year old and/or 4 year old child(ren) in our Preschool program for the 2014-2015 school year, please give them a brochure or have them call Marilyn at the Preschool 815-885-4356.  We seriously need our enrollment to increase, and your help in getting the word out would be great!

I'm wishing you, as always, peace, hope, love, faith, grace and health.  Welcome back Pastor!

Pastor Suzanne and her family have left the hills of upstate New York and are heading for the city once again for sea and sand time.  Remember that we are here for any of your church spiritual needs or emergencies.  You can call the church office and leave a message for me Monday through Friday (815-886-4354), or call our Council President Carrie Worthington  (815-483-6904) or Vice President Judy Jordan (815-210-9967).  All three of us have been instructed on what to do if assistance is needed.  Please refrain from disturbing Pastor so she can enjoy her much needed personal family time away.  She loves all of you and will be back in Romeoville August 2nd.  Come see what a great job our council, with the help of some other talented people, does for worship this Sunday.  I have inside information that there's something special planned just for kids this Sunday.

I'm wishing you, as always, peace, hope, love, faith, grace and health.  Have a wonderful, prayer filled weekend!
