Hello and Happy Spring!
Though I can't say this is weather is very much like spring, can you?
Maybe next week?? Last Saturday I had the pleasure of meeting
Clifford the big red dog and his pal, Geronimo Stilton at the

friendly, some of the little ones were a bit overwhelmed by their
size. However, the book fair was successful and you can look for some
of the new selections appearing in our lending library. Remember to
tell anyone who might be interested that our Preschool is now taking

calling the Preschool for details and to set up a tour.

a small group of people who will commit to praying as urgent needs
come up. Renea and Pastor often receive requests throughout the week
and would like to be able to share them with some prayer warriors, as
we've done in the past. If you are interested in being a part of this
team, please contact Pastor Suzanne via email and she will send you
the expectations. Thanks.
"How To" Event Planning Meeting - This Saturday, March 23, at 12:30pm,
we will have our next planning meeting for our summer "How To" Event.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, July 13 from 10am-2pm. Lots of
ideas are being considered and lots of help will be needed. If you
are interested in helping with this outreach event, please join us for
the meeting. Can't attend? Please contact Pastor Suzanne and she'll
put you in touch with one of our team members so we can get you
connected.
Wednesday Night Study - Please note that we will NOT be meeting on

having a light supper before our study, at 6pm; the prayer portion of
our study will begin around 6:20pm, and the Bible study will run from
around 6:45pm until 8:30pm. We will conclude our time together with
communion at 8:30pm. All are welcome - all ages, Bible "rookies,"
Bible "veterans" and everyone in-between. This study meets at the
church weekly.
Making Disciples - A final informational meeting on this program will
be held on Sunday, April 7, immediately following the 10am service.
This program is designed for anyone who is interested in going deeper
in their faith walk and sharing the journey with fellow believers.
The program will kick off on May 19 and will run through the end of
the year. It is open to youth in grades 7 and up, along with adults.
Adults will be paired together and youth will be paired with an adult
mentor. Questions? Can't make the meeting? Please talk to Debbie
Suchomel, Learning Chair, or Pastor Suzanne.
Recap of last Sunday: Using words from Paul's letter to the
Philippians, Pastor Suzanne talked about the importance of letting go
of the past so we can look forward to the future God has in store for
us. From the prophet, Isaiah, we heard God speak, "Forget all
that...For I am about to do a brand-new thing. See, I have already
begun!" What is blocking you from seeing the brand-new thing God is
doing in your life? Our weekly challenge was this: as you drive or
ride in a car this week, notice if you spend more time looking in the
rear-view mirror or looking through the windshield and think about how
that relates to your own life - emotional and spiritual? Are you
"forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead
(Philippians 3:13)?"
Preview of this Sunday: We'll share in one service as we begin Holy
Week together with a special Palm Sunday service. Come, hear the
story of Jesus' walk to the cross. As always, our service is bound to
be an interactive one filled with songs and readings and plenty of
time for personal reflection too. All are welcome. Invite a friend
to join you!
I'm wishing you peace, faith, hope, love, joy, and health always.
Please be sure to call the office if you need any information about
the schedule or anything else church related.

Jesus in Holy Week.
Recap from last Sunday: Using the story of the Prodigal Son from Luke
15, we talked about what prodigal means (recklessly and wastefully
extravagant), who we are in the story, and why the story is important
today. We also read Paul's words from 2 Corinthians, about being
Christ's ambassadors and how God uses us to bring people back to him
and how we are to stop evaluating people from a human point of view
and start seeing people as God does. Pastor challenged us to re-read
the story of the Prodigal Son and think about what character we most
relate to - the Father, who shows reckless, extravagant grace and
love; the son, who returns in repentance, seeking forgiveness; the
older brother, full of anger and unable to see beyond his jealousy.
Preview of this Sunday: This week, we'll "witness" the story of Mary
anointing Jesus and "watch" the reaction from the disciples. We'll
also think about how God makes us right with Him through faith and why
it is important to look in our windshields more and our rear-view
mirrors less. Come, be a part of the conversation. All are welcome!
I'm wishing you peace, faith, hope, love, joy, and health always.
Have a Happy St. Patrick's Day, when everyone is a wee bit Irish!

Making Disciples - The Learning Team and Pastor Suzanne will hold a second informational meeting about this program tonight, Thursday, at 7:00p at church. This program is open to youth in grades 7 and older, as well as adults of any age. This program pairs up people to walk on a faith journey together, as we dig deeper into what we believe, why we believe, and how we share that belief with others. If you've been looking for a program to help you better understand your faith; if you've been looking for a way to more deeply connect with others in our church, then this program might just be for you. Come tonight to our meeting and see. All are welcome! if you are interested in the program but unable to attend the meeting, please email Pastor Suzanne and she will send you the information sheet.
"How To" Event Planning Meeting - Our next planning meeting for our 7/13 "How To" event will be on Saturday, March 23 at 12:30 p.m. This event is designed to assist those in our community who need assistance with interviewing for jobs, working a computer, applying for benefits - seniors, veterans, children, and much more. If you have ideas or just want to help serve at this event, please join us for the meeting. We're hoping to have a food truck that day too. Want to be involved but not able to be at the meeting? Please talk to Pastor Suzanne and she'll add you to the email list of volunteers.
Recap from last Sunday: Last Sunday, the third Sunday of Lent, we discussed the story of the fig tree, as told by Jesus. We talked about bearing fruit, about how many chances God gives us, and how, when Jesus tends to us and nurtures us, in good times (sun) and not-so-good (poop/fertilizer), we have a better chance for bearing fruit. We also heard Paul's words from 1 Corinthians 10 about how we need to be careful because, when we think we are standing strong, temptation can gain a hold of us. We talked about the importance of walking with others so that, when we are tempted, we will not have to face it alone. And we were reminded, by Paul's words, of the most important thing we have when we are faced with temptations - God's faithfulness. How are you doing in remembering that this week?
Preview of this Sunday: This Sunday, we'll hear one of the most famous stories in the New Testament - the story of the Prodigal Son. We'll also hear, again, from Paul, as he reminds us that we should stop evaluating people from a human point of view and, rather, see them as God sees them - new creations in Christ. We hope you'll join us!
Remember that time Springs forward this weekend, so be sure to set your clock ahead an hour before you go to sleep on Saturday, and look for the Rod and Staff newsletter in church this Sunday. I'm wishing you peace, faith, hope, love, joy, and health always. Now it's time to head out into the sunshine!!

from Pastor Suzanne
Greetings, all.
I am in the process of resetting the contacts in my phone. I am attempting to get more organized by having your contacts in my phone and not just on my computer. In order to do that, however, I need to delete an account so I can then re-add them.
So, please bear with me in the next few days as I work to collect accurate information from all of you.
Renea and I are also continuing to work on the church directory. We would ask that you would provide any needed updates to her by the end of this week, March 8, so we can get the directory done asap.
We are looking for names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, birthdays, anniversaries, etc.
Thanks for your help on both of these.
God bless your day!
Peace.
