WHAT'S HAPPENING AT GOOD SHEPHERD CHURCH

Hello!

Today is my father-in-law’s 85th birthday, though I’ve offered to reverse his age to 58!  If only it were so easy to do that.  We’ll be celebrating with him in Indiana on Saturday.

Wednesday Lenten Soup Suppers and Services continue…Pastor Suzanne and the Worship Team invite you to join them for our special services during the season of Lent.  Each Wednesday through April 9 we will be doing a series entitled, “Father, Into Your Hands I Commit.”  Our Soup Supper is at 6:30pm.  Please sign up for the suppers so those who are preparing the soup know how many to provide for.  Also, feel free to bring a dessert to share.  While we break bread together over supper, we’ll also be studying the Bible, seeing where the Spirit leads us in God’s Word, so be sure to bring your Bible with you too.  Worship Services take place at 7:30pm and is a great opportunity to invite friends, neighbors and coworkers to church.  All are welcome!

Care and Support Group meets this Monday!

Several people in the church have been discussing the possibility of gathering for a care and support group to have a safe place to share “life concerns.”  Because Sunday mornings don’t always offer the opportunity to talk with each other on a deeper level, we’d like to offer an alternative time  to meet and provide a safe place for talking about the daily struggles as we walk in faith.  We will have a first meeting on Monday, March 31 at 7pm at the church.  If you are looking for a group of people to walk with you through the ups and downs of life, perhaps this is the place for you.  If you have any questions, please talk to Pastor Suzanne.

Pastry Puffins delivery will be between noon and 6pm on Wednesday.  The Preschool thanks everyone for supporting their fundraisers!

Manna order forms, which are light lilac for the month of April, are now available in church and the office.  These forms will need to be turned in by April 6, 2014 and delivery will be made the following week on April 13th.  Share them with your friends, coworkers and family.  It’s a great, practical way to help raise funds for the church.  Thanks to those that continue to place Manna orders.  You rock!

90 Days Group

Our group continues to meet discussing a variety of ideas including sources of income, space usage, membership, outreach, staffing, and more.  Our next meeting will be on Thursday, April 3 at 7pm, where we’ll be putting together recommendations for the April 27th Special Congregational Meeting to present to the whole congregation.  Have questions about what we’re doing?  Please seek out a Council member: Carrie Worthington, President; Judy Jordan, Vice-President; Dave Darguzis, Secretary; Roy Jamason, George Sanchez, and Bruce Texley, Council members at large.

Looking ahead:

We’re going to have a special Holy Week this year that will culminate in an all-church retreat on Good Friday, April 18.  The place and time will be shared soon, but please mark your calendars now and make it a priority to join us.

On a sad note, prayers have been requested for a young man in 6th grade whose mother passed away recently due to cancer.  He is an only child and both he and his father need our prayers to help them cope with their loss.

I’m wishing you all peace, hope, faith, joy, love, grace, and health.
