Thanks to all of you who took the time to attend the Special Congregational Meeting following our worship last Sunday. It was a tough decision to make, I'm sure, but was unanimous following Pastor's explanation.

The 90 Day Challenge Group: Part Two is meeting tonight and addressing the following areas in an in-depth way: -Outreach, -In Reach (membership), -Finance (including research into establishing a line of credit), -Fundraising, and –Church/Office Space. Everyone's help is needed to secure and ensure the future of Good Shepherd Church. Meetings don't last long and your input would be most welcome.
Can you help? We are going to be doing our own cleaning over the summer and plan to thoroughly clean all the nooks and crannies, as well as stripping, cleaning and waxing the floors. All talent levels would be welcomed! Contact Carrie for more details, and thanks in advance for any help you can give.
Happy Father's Day to all of you fathers. We'll be spending the week getting ready to celebrate with a Father's Day barbecue on Sunday, June 22. This way you can celebrate twice! Be sure to invite all your family and sign-up on the sheet at the back of church so we make sure to have enough to go around. Also, it would be appreciated if you would bring lawn chairs if, weather permitting, we'll be outside.
Preschool Registration is now going on, so if you know of anyone interested in enrolling their 3 year old and/or 4 year old child(ren) in our Preschool program for the 2014-2015 school year, have them call the office at 815-885-4354. Thanks!
Batter up! The Preschool is having a Slammer's Ball Game fundraiser at 7pm on Friday, June 27th. Tickets cost $10 each. The game is on Harry Potter Night with a lot of extra happenings. Get a group together and come out for this night of fun packed fun. Flyers and tickets are available in church from Art Arellano or you can call the church office at 815-886-4354.
Two weeks ago, we prayed over a young boy, Anthony, who was with us. He and his family had just lost their home to a fire. The family is related to Lisa Motyka-Allen, one of our members. Several people asked about how we could help the family, so here is some information we received: Melvina (grandma)- women's mdm shoe size 7-1/2; Patty (mom) women's XL pants 2XL tops shoe size 6-1/2; Shana (Anthony's mom) XL pants 2XL tops shoe size 8; Sami women's (juniors) sz XS or SM shoe size 6-1/2; Anthony boys size 8 and shoe size 3. Any toys for a 6 year old would also be greatly appreciated! Right now they are staying in a hotel until the insurance is able to establish a more permanent/temporary housing. At that time I'm sure they would be appreciative of household items. As soon as we have more info on household needs, we'll pass it along.
Social Ministry Discretionary Fund - This fund was established several years ago to assist families with various needs such as payments for utilities, prescriptions, gas cards, as well as other needs. We have been made aware of several church families who are in need of some assistance and we'd like to use the fund, but we need to replenish the fund in order to do that. So, if you are able, please consider giving a small financial gift directed to this fund in the next few weeks so we can assist those who need it. And, if you are in need or know someone who is, please talk to Pastor Suzanne. All requests for assistance are kept confidential. Thanks in advance for your help.
Care Group - A new small group has been established in our church - a care and support group. For now, the group is for women who are looking for a place for support and a place to share their daily concerns. Members have met 3 or 4 times and will be meeting again on Monday, 6/23 at 7:15pm, location to be announced. If you're interested in the group and want more information, please contact either Carrie Worthington or Rosemary Darguzis.
Synod Assembly - Please pray for Carrie Worthington and George Sanchez, our delegates to the Annual Synod Assembly, that takes place tomorrow and Saturday. We pray for safe travel for them and all who will be attending along with wisdom for decisions being made.
Remember that the worship time is 9am for the rest of the summer. If you would like, you can get a CD recording of any Sunday worship you care to listen to or share. See Steve Hurdle and he will set you up.
Tomorrow is Friday the 13th and also a full moon, which is an extremely rare occurrence. The next time won't be until the year 2048.
I'm wishing peace, faith, hope, love, grace and health for you all, as well as a Happy Father's Day!
