LAST CHANCE for this year’s Preschool Sweetheart Dance - The Preschool is hosting their annual Sweetheart Dance tomorrow night from 6:30-8:00pm. Our very own Pastor's "wife," Steve (with a little help from Courtney) will be our DJ; there will be plenty of opportunities for dancing, trivia, and lots of fun! Start your Valentine's celebration early; bring your favorite Valentine(s) to our dance and make it a special night. Call the Preschool (815-886-4356) to reserve a ticket or more and join us as we dance the night away! Tickets cost $2.50 each, with children under 2 free!
Commitment to Love – next Saturday, February 15 - 4pm - Join us for an evening of celebrating and committing to love - of spouse/partner, child, family, friends, brothers and sisters in Christ, etc. Tickets are $12 each and include a family-style dinner, musical entertainment, and a memento to take home. Our time begins with a special time of worship, followed by dinner and entertainment. It's sure to be an afternoon/evening of fun, laughter, and memories. Join us! And invite a friend or two to join us too. All are welcome. Please note that tickets must be purchased in advance so we know how much food to buy! Thanks, and hope to see you there!
One Service Sundays continue - NOTE TIME CHANGE - Starting this Sunday, February 9, our services will begin at 9:30am. They will be a blending of traditional hymns and contemporary songs. As always, we'll offer Holy Communion. Our Connection Cafe will be open around 8:30am, so come early and join us for a time of conversation and light snacks. Help spread the word!
At the Annual meeting, the general consensus was to take the following 90 days to review all aspects of our budget and spending to see where things could be changed, cut, etc. We will be having several meetings and we would like everyone in our congregation to be a part of one of these planning teams. They are:
Salary/Benefits-Bruce Texley is Council liaison. This will be a complete review of all of our Staffing options which include benefits, Pastoral status, etc.
Source of Income-Carrie Worthington is Council liaison. This will include a Stewardship drive, Fundraising, grants, etc.
Membership/Outreach-Roy Jamason and George Sanchez are Council Liaisons. This will include a review of what immediate solutions can be done to reach those who are not attending, reaching out to the community, planning for evangelism and growth.
Space Usage-Dave Darguzis and Judy Jordan are Council Liaisons. This includes a review of our space, what can be changed, what we need. A review of Preschool and DCFS and what changing our space configurations would mean to the future of Preschool.
Please prayerfully consider where you can best serve in planning the future of our church. We will have sign-up sheets in church on Sunday for each of these four areas, with meetings being held at 7pm on February 11th & 27th, March 18th, and April 3rd at the church.
Wednesday Study - This Bible Study will continue to meet through the month of February. Join us at church at 6:30pm for a bring-your-own-supper, followed by Bible study at 7pm. All are welcome! Bring your supper, a Bible, and join us!
Recap from last Sunday: Last week we heard about superheroes and thought about the extraordinary powers we've all been given by God. Pastor Suzanne shared some of the traits of superheroes and how these traits can be found within each of us. We heard from the prophet, Micah, about what God requires of us - "To do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God." How are you living that out and "saving the world" today?
Preview of this Sunday: One of our favorite songs, "Salt and Light" comes directly from the text we'll be reading from Matthew this week. We'll also hear important words from the prophet, Isaiah, about what God looks for in us - in our worship and in our daily living. Come, join the discussion!
As always, I’m wishing everyone peace, hope, faith, joy, love, grace, health and warmth!
