WHAT'S HAPPENING AT GOOD SHEPHERD CHURCH

Good Afternoon!

Tonight is our Thankful Dinner here at church with a lot of former preschool families joining us!  What a great way to share all sorts of blessed preschool memories and to "catch up" on all the families of our special ministry.  Hope that you can join us!

Here's What's Happening around Good Shepherd Church . . .

TONIGHT-Thu. Nov 20-Our thankful dinner begins at 6:30pm when we'll be honoring our Preschool ministry including staff members, students, families, church and community members.

Sat. Nov. 22-Brookfield Zoo Tree Trimming.  We'll meet at church around 12:30pm (see details below).

Sat. Nov. 22-Harvest Saturday begins at 10am (see details below)

Sun. Nov 23-Connection Café begins at 8:30am with a traditional Worship service beginning at 9:00am (see information below)

Thur. Nov 27-Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Sun. Nov 30-Peace Offering Sunday Worship begins at 9am with a brunch following (see information below)

This Saturday - Brookfield Zoo Tree Trimming - looks like the weather might cooperate a bit so we can trim the tree waiting for us at Brookfield Zoo this Saturday.  We'd like to meet at church around 12:30pm, make a few ornaments together and then head out to the Zoo.  We have 20 tickets for those who are not Zoo members, so plenty of room for people who want to join us.  Our tree is on the north side of the Zoo, near the Carousel.  Should be a lot of fun!  So, join us at church around 12:30pm.  We'll plan on leaving for the Zoo around 1:15pm and trees have to be decorated by 4:30pm, as the Zoo closes at 5pm.

This Saturday - Harvest Saturday - Community-Wide Food Collection - Be sure to place a bag or two of non-perishable food on your front porch and the volunteers will collect it.  Food will be distributed to a variety of food pantries in Romeoville and Joliet.  If you'd like to volunteer, please go to St. Andrew's Catholic Church around 10am on Saturday.

This Sunday - Our "Four-Step Plan to Peace" continues with a traditional service and a special opportunity to give thanks.  We'll also be introducing our Peace Offerings, including an explanation on how you can make plans to present your special Peace Offering to God on November 30.  These Peace Offerings are in place of our traditional pledge/commitment cards and will help our Finance Team plan for our 2015 budget.

NO Thanksgiving Eve festivities this year - spend time with your family or traveling safely to them.

Sunday, November 30 - Peace Offering Sunday and brunch after service - our Inreach Team will be coordinating the brunch; you are welcome to bring a food item to share.

Manna November orders gained us a total profit of $134.45!  Thanks to those of you who placed orders this month.  The December order form is now available and includes a special card under miscellaneous valued at $50 that is good at 17 different popular places.  See the special attachment which also includes information on ordering gift card boxes.  By giving Manna cards you don't have to worry about the color, size or style of the gift—the recipient chooses just what they want, making it a win-win for everyone.  Having extra cards for forgotten gifts or giving one as a hostess gift is also an option.  Cards can be kept on hand for any time or occasion, and are a safe way to spend without carrying cash or worrying about your credit card being hacked by a security breach.  There are several vendor cards that will suit everyone's needs.  Best of all, you only pay the face value of the card and never have any extra fees added.  Check out the December form and consider placing an order.  Please call the church office (815-886-4354) if you have any questions about the program and we'll be glad to help.  Thanks!

Have you signed up for I-give or Amazon Smile yet?  If anyone needs assistance in signing up for I-give or Amazon Smile or information about getting gift cards for Christmas (or any time) from our Manna program, please see Carrie after church.  If you have a tablet or laptop to bring, we can use that, or we will have several computers available.  Once these programs are set up they are very easy to use.

Audit Team help is still needed!  Won't you consider providing assistance?  Contact Carrie for more details.  It is pretty simple and won't take a lot of your time.  Thanks!

I wish everyone peace, hope, love, faith, grace, health and warmth.
